Otway Orchard Alpacas
Welcome to Otway Orchard Alpacas. We are situated in South Western Victoria at the foothills of the beautiful Otway Ranges. We have 12 acres of native pasture which is ideal for our small herd of alpacas.
Our humble beginnings started with a pregnant female with female cria at foot and we have since expanded to approx 25 animals and try to maintain around this number.
We have always loved the natural array of alpaca colours and hence have tried to concentrate on breeding good quality coloured animals, including appaloosa. As we use their fleece for making alpaca products, a variety of colours is exactly what we strive for.
Coming from a small herd most of our alpacas are friendly and are also used to children and 'our' dog. They will eat out of your hands and will follow a bucket of grain anywhere!
To add to the clan we have our Red Kelpie 'Poppy' and an abundance of wildlife such as King parrots who grace us with their presence everyday, and echidnas who come searching for an easy drink.
When we first entered the alpaca industry we found the people very helpful and informative so we try to pass this service on to the people we meet.
Since beginning to sell our alpaca fleeces and handmade products, our alpacas have opened up a whole new area of interest for us.
Our main priority is to keep happy and healthy alpacas who will bring joy to others as they have to us.
